Pastor Kevin D. Russell, Sr., the youngest of four children, was born June 30, 1967. Born and raised in Indianapolis, IN, Pastor Russell attended Washington Township schools, where he graduated from North Central High School in 1985. Pastor Russell married Lady Talair June 26, 2021. He is a proud father and grandfather. He attended Indiana State University majoring in Mechanical Technology and later Crossroads Bible College with a focus in Leadership. In 2016, Pastor Russell received his Associate’s and Bachelor’s Degree in Theology and in 2018 he received his Master’s Degree in Theology all from Life Christian University.
Accepting Jesus as his Lord and Savior at an early age, Pastor Russell knew the Lord had a purpose for his life. Growing up in the church, under the leadership of his Father, the late Pastor Clifton Russell, Sr., Pastor Kevin Russell, worked diligently, serving at Gabriel Missionary Baptist Church until the Lord spoke and said, “It’s Time”. Pastor Russell accepted his calling into the ministry and was licensed to preach in 2005, ordained in 2006, and was installed as the Pastor of Gabriel Missionary Baptist Church on July 30, 2006.
Pastor Russell continues to grow in the ministry, leading the flock inside the four walls and outside in the community, including being a Police Officer, and now Detective. He continues his service in the local and national associations, including being Treasurer, Secretary, 1st Vice Moderator, and now Dean of the Congress of Christian Education of the Southern Fellowship Baptist District Association. In addition, he is a member of Sharpening Swords Fellowship. Pastor Russell started a young men’s group called H2O to help empower and sharpen the young men of today to give them an outlet and alternative to what the world has to offer. In addition, he started the Clifton Russell, Sr. Scholarship of Education Foundation to assist college bound students with expenses.
As a great teacher, preacher, and visionary leader Pastor Kevin D. Russell, Sr. gives God all the Glory and Honor as he continues to trust in the Lord and walk by faith knowing He will direct his path (Proverbs 3:5-6).
